The Laws of Motion and Force

Mr. Hunt’s 6th grade Science classes, at Mabelvale Magnet Middle School , are testing the Laws of Motion and Force by building roller coasters. Students were asked to design roller coasters that will use the Law of Inertia and gravity to propel a marble through a track made of pipe insulation. Students were asked to measure, use math formulas to calculate velocity and write about the experience. Mr. Bank’s the math teacher on the Bear team helped the students learn the math.  Benchmark standards from Science, Writing and math were taught and used in the completion of this lab. In all, the students used the principles of Physics to design their roller coasters and had fun doing it.
